Andrea and I were in Kelowna for Christmas time and had a bit of spare time to get out for a hike. The go to for a lot of people in Kelowna is a quick walk up Knox Mountain. I’d been up many times in my youth, but I never knew that the summit everyone stops at is not the official high point. Andrea is always down for these types of quirky adventures so we decided on a hike to the top and a walk over to wherever this true summit resides.

We parked on at the bottom and followed one of a dozen trails up to the main view point and where most stop. From there we had a short walk through a nearby neighbourhood and then up a small ridge to the summit. The views were better from the main view point, but still a worthwhile visit. Our return just followed more random trails and we were back at the car in under an hour. A quick but fun half-day out.

Looking at the easy trail system ahead
It’s a highway to the top
Nice views towards Mount Boucherie
Looking towards Blue Grouse Mountain
There’s the true summit not far off
Heading for that neighborhood
Another nice path to the top

Dilworth Mountain and Black Knight Mountain behind it
Nice views of downtown
